Wheel House - Let's Do Trivia - 5 October 2023

Hello Trivia Teams!

Adam coming to you from a tent in Munich with beer spilled all over me to fill you in on last Thursday's trivia match. We kicked off The Wheelhouse Beer Garden's Oktoberfest weekend with our weekly game of Let's Do Trivia. We had a beautiful fall night as the backdrop for our game and thankfully the rain waited for us to finish playing before it rolled in a few hours after we wrapped up.

43 players on 11 teams were spitting knowledge at a chance to take home the top prize of $90 Wheel House gift certificate and $10 second place certificate. We had three new teams participating in the match! They were Nolan's Army, Team Theo, and Zo Bear

No theme in the way of questions or music played this week. Most teams enjoyed a strong scoring affair in the first half of the match. In fact, only two 4 points were dropped in Round 3 ALL TOGETHER. Nice job folks! Through halftime and the first half, Dickens Cider led the pack with 45 points and Wheel Deal Sex Appeal had second place with 44 points. After many weeks off, Riot Penguins returned and picked up where they left off by coming out strong with 41 points in the first half.  QUIZMO for House Speaker was just off the podium with 39 points in first place.

Much tougher go of it in the second half with teams dropping points and a harder than normal Music Bonus. (Was it really that hard to place Bob Marley as the covering artist?) Going into the final question, Wheel Deal Sex Appeal were on top with a two point lead on Dickens Cider. Quizmo for House Speaker was not too far behind in third place with 68 points.

The final question took us LIVE FROM NEW YORK..... kind of but not really. Teams had to place four cinematic masterpieces based on Saturday Night Live sketches in order of their US domestic box office gross from highest to lowest. Night at the Roxbury earned $30.3 million, The Ladies Man brought in $13.7 million, MacGruber took home $9.3 million, and It's Pat paid people to go see it.

Riot Penguins  and Wild Wicked Women were the only teams to get the correct order, but our favorite women did not wager any points. That means the Riot Penguins' 20 point bet shot them atop the leaderboard to be the evening's grand prize winners! A nice welcome back gift. Wheel Deal Sex Appeal did not wager any points which was enough to keep them in the winning places in second place. That $10 Wheelhouse cash prize rolls over to next week. That brings our top prize next week will be $50 Wheelhouse cash.

For a bonus 3 points on Round 2 Question 1, draw either a can or bowl of spaghettios.... 😥

Here are your final rankings:

11th: Nolan's Army

10th: Team Theo

9th: Zo Bear

8th: Your Mom Dear Watson

7th: QUIZMO for House Speaker

6th: Hoppy Endings

5th: Wild Wicked Women

4th: GO WASHINGTON!!!

3rd Dickens Cider

2nd: Wheel Deal Sex Appeal

1st: Riot Penguins

Teams that arrive before 6pm are able to receive an extra $10 added to the top prize if they end the game in first place. Remember to find that answer to a first round question in either a song title or artist that is played on the playlist between 6:00 and 6:30.

Get through this week and I will see you Thursday night!

Best,

Adam
