Wheel House - Let's Do Trivia - 3 August 2023

Ahoy Trivia Teams!

Adam coming to you from under an umbrella at The Wheel House  still waiting for the rain to let up to fill you in on this past Thursday's Let's Do Trivia match at The Wheel House Beer Garden.

The weather started out perfectly feeling more like a late summer evening than early August. Sadly, it did not stay that way. The steady pour down came in right around the final question of the evening. 10 teams with 40 players brought theirA-game for the top prize of $120 Wheel House gift certificate for first place and $10 second place certificate.

Teams performed admirably throughout the first half of the match with nearly everyone at 30 or more points after the first three rounds. At the Halftime Bonus Question, we all had to rewind our brains back to 8th grade United States History and recall the four US Presidents born in the state (or colony) of Massachusetts. I was happy to see that nearly every team got three to all four answers correct. At the half Dickens Cider was in third place at halftime with 42 points. Wheel Deal Sex Appeal were in second place at 43 points. QUIZMO Ate Lizzo's Banana was the leader with 45 points. Clearly a close game. 

The second half started much more challenging in the fourth round. No team got all three questions in the round correct. Some got one or two questions in that round correct. Teams cleaned up their acts and did much better in Rounds five and six. Going into the final questions, most teams were still in play no matter where they were in the standings. As I always say, think about your betting strategies, you never know who is going to crap out above you...

 The final question centered around the semi-theme of the evening, 80s music, movies, and events. Teams had to put the following events in order from earliest to most recent: "The Color Purple" opens in U.S. theaters; Disney's EPCOT Center opens in Florida; Sugar Ray Leonard defeats Roberto Duran in the "No Más" fight; Wham's farewell single "The Edge of Heaven" is released. What do you think the correct order is?

That's right, those smarty pants that play on the house team took first place again. That means the top prize this coming Thursday will be a $160 Wheel House gift certificate! Second place will earn a $10 Wheel House gift certificate.

Teams that arrive before 6pm are able to receive an extra $10 added to the top prize if they end the game in first place.


I will not be hosting next week, so our trivia All-Father Allen will have the conn. HAve fun and I will see you again on August 17th.

Happy new week trivia players, Have you taken a look in the night's sky recently? How's that Moon looking? If you didn't join us last week at the Wheelhouse for Let's do Trivia, you probably have no idea what I am talking about. But if you were in attendance, you know I'm referring to our big theme revolving around our Lunar friend. Wheel House - Let's Do Trivia - 1 May 2025

Hello trivia brothers and sisters ! Let's go through our weekly recap of this past Thursday's Let's Do Trivia match at The Wheelhouse Beer Garden . It was a great crowd of 37 players on 10 teams playing for the top prizes of $50 Wheelhouse Cash for first place and our second place prize of $10 Wheel House cash . We had a big theme to most of the questions. We were asking about things to do with siblings, brothers, and sisters. Just like the previous week, this match saw lower scoring than normal in our first half of the game. Coming out of halftime, Raven Lunatics held first place with 35 points.   Wino Combo and Wheel Deal Sex Appeal were tied for second place with 34 points. Dare I say the second half got slightly easier? Points were still dropped but I believe every team got at least a 6 pointer correct in each round. Wheel House - Let's Do Trivia - 17 July 2025

Good day week Trivia teams, Let's do a quick look back to last Thursday night's Let's Do Trivia match at the Wheelhouse.  47 players on 9 teams joined us to beat the heat and beat other teams for the top prizes of $50 Wheelhouse Cash for first place and $10 Wheel House cash for second  place. There wasn't a larger theme throughout the match, but some questions did have an Australian touch to them. There were also a few Bee Gees related questions, even though I would contend they are not Australian and only spent a part of their career down under.  As is usual, most teams had a successful first half of the match. After our Bee Gees halftime question, we had many point totals that were close together in our rankings.  My Personal Favorites  led with 42 points. Followed as closely as you can get was  Why So Serious with 41 points. Wino Combo  was in third place with 39 points.
