Wheel House – Let's Do Trivia - 11 May 2023

Good day Trivia teams!

It's Adam coming to you live from the calming room of my classroom during celebrate teacher appreciation week to recap the Let's Do Trivia match.

61 players from 12 teams were aiming for the top prize of a $65 Wheel House gift certificate for first place, a $25 second place certificate (because we were over 50 players), and a $10 third place certificate.

There was no real theme to the questions this week. A hodgepodge of questions from former Presidents' ages to video game music added to the Library of Congress' National Recording Registry and a large variety in between put our teams through the ringer.

The scoreboard was all over the place during the first half of the game. Going into halftime, Yo Mamma and Corporate Guesspionage were tied for the lead with 40 points. Bitter rivals Wheel Deal Sex Appeal and Has Anyone Seen QUIZMO and George Santos in the Same Place Together were tied for second place with 38 points. Teams had to jump into their Delorean's for the halftime questions that asked teams to name the four different years that were the settings for the three Back to the Future movies. Many many teams got all four years (1885, 1955, 1985, and 2015) correct.

Before the final question Wheel Deal Sex Appeal held the narrowest of leads over Yo Mamma. Pints and Pups and Corporate Guesspionage rounded out the top four.
The final question was one of the toughest I have ever seen as both a former participant and a current host of Let's Do Trivia. Teams were tasked with ordering the following federal government offices, which are in the presidential line of succession, according to how many individuals have held that office full-time, in all of U.S. history: Speaker of the House, President Pro Tem of the Senate, and Secretary of State. We have had 92 President Pro Tems of the Senate, 71 Secretary of States, and 55 Speakers of the House. Out of the 13 teams, only one team got the order correct. Wheel Deal Sex Appeal took first place. WIth smart betting strategies (betting zero if you don't have a clue) Wild Wicked Women shot up from eighth place ALL THE WAY to second place and won the $25 Wheel House gift certificate. Low Expectations placed a small 5 point bet and from losing such a small amount, went from ninth place to third place and earned the $10 Wheel House cash. I will say always, think about your betting strategies and how things can fall if a team other than your's loses a lot of points on the final question.

For a bonus 3 points next match, draw the logo of your favorite sports team.

Here are your final rankings:

12th: Lucky 13
11th: Beach Bums
10th: Your Mom, Dear Watson

9th: Place Holders

8th: Wino Combo

7th: Has Anyone Seen QUIZMO and George Santos in the Same Place Together

6th: Corporate Guesspionage

5th: Pints and Pups

4th: Yo Mamma

3rd: Low Expectations

2nd: Wild Wicked Women

1st: Wheel Deal Sex Appeal

The first place prize of a $65 Wheel House gift certificate rolls over to next week. That means first place next week will earn $105 Wheel House cash. Teams that arrive before 6pm are able to receive an extra $10 added to the top prize if they happen to win the match. Get there early and figure out the one song played between 6:00 and 6:30 before the game starts that will provide you an answer during the regular rounds with either the song title or the artist.

Best,

Adam
